A pupil from an Auchinleck school has narrowly missed out on winning MP Alan Brown's Christmas card competition.

Tyla Savage from St Patrick's Primary came third with her traditional design featuring the three shepherds who followed the wandering star to Bethlehem.

The overall winner was Nyla Bolton from Annanhill Primary who illustrated a skiing snowman wearing a kilt and a Kilmarnock strip and Jay McIntyre from Park School came second.

Kilmarnock and Loudoun MP Mr Brown said: “I’d like to firstly thank every single pupil who entered the Christmas Card Competition, and their respective schools for letting them take part.

“It’s always something I look forward to at the end of the year and to have more than 200 to pick from was fantastic. It was great to see how each pupil was able to convey their idea of Christmas with each card different to the next.

“I would like to congratulate Nyla, Jay, Tyla and every other pupil for taking part and sending in their wonderful Christmas cards once again. My office was certainly more colourful over the past few weeks and my staff have decided to display some of the cards on my office window so look out for them if you’re passing.”
