RESIDENTS of Cumnock and Doon Valley are invited to a week-long event which will focus on a condition which affects many people.

A team from Alzheimer Scotland and Dementia Friendly Cumnock will be at East Ayrshire Community Hospital (EACH) between December 10 and 14.

They will be available to answer any questions you might have about dementia and keep you up to date with what’s happening locally in the next few months.

There will also be an information stand throughout the week where staff, patients, family/carers and members of the public can use.

Drop in and have a chat with Alzheimer Scotland and the Community Mental Health team who will advise on what information and/or support is best.

In addition, there will also be two public consultation meetings to support the launch of Dementia Friendly Cumnock on Thursday, December 13.

Both will be held in the EACH cafe, the first one from 3pm to 4pm and the other between 6pm and 7pm.

Helen Hollywood from Alzheimer Scotland said: “We want the local community to help us shape the future of a truly dementia friendly Cumnock, so we need to hear what will make a difference, where we should be focussing our energy, and which individuals and organisations we should be partnering with.”
