TRAINS between Kilmarnock and Dumfries were cancelled due to heavy flooding of the line at Kirkconnel.
Services are now begining to return to normal but some alterations are likely.
Network Rail tweeted earlier: "Flooding on north bound line at Kirkconnel has receded to a point where we can run services at normal speed.
"We can also re-open south bound line but a temporary speed limit is in place.
"We will continue to monitor weather and flood water. Sorry if you were inconvenienced."
The water level has now receeded enough that the speed restrictions have been lifted.
Services from Glasgow Central to Dumfries, Carlisle and Newcastle have all been affected.
Replacement buses were in operation between Kilmarnock and Dumfries. Ticket acceptance with Stagecoach between
Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Dumfries on the X74 service has now ended.
A Met Office yellow be aware warning for rain affecting Cumnock, Doon Valley and Upper Nithsdale was in place until 2pm.
