A MAN has been warned he faces jail after defying a driving ban - for the second time.

The 19-year-old had already been banned TWICE and was serving a 24 month ban when he was spotted driving someone else’s car.

Josh Mackin of Barshare Road, Cumnock, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Solicitor Mr Logan said his client had been involved in scrapping cars, but was now in pest control so should be less tempted to get behind the wheel.

Sheriff Mhari MacTaggart explained to Mackin: “You are putting yourself in a very difficult situation. You cannot keep defying court orders.

“This is your last chance and if you cannot comply, I will send you into custody.”

Mackin was ordered to complete a community payback order as an alternative to custody.

The teenager was also put under a restriction of liberty order for four-months where he will have to remain at home from the hours of 7pm-7am.

He was also banned for 40 months.
