A CHRONICLE campaign to improve road surfaces has helped do just that.
In the annual report which Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) presented at a full council meeting, this was confirmed. Projects have been completed on time and on budget and winter resilience plans are in place and appear to be working well.
We had highlighted the worst roads in East Ayrshire with the help of our readers at the start of the year. Using Road Condition Index guidelines, there have been improvements, likewise with responses to customer enquiries. The ARA also delivered complex projects including the New Cumnock flood project at the Leggate.
Ballochmyle councillor, Jim Roberts, said: “The work that was carried out last winter by the Alliance will stand us in good stead for the winter ahead. 25 community groups throughout East Ayrshire are now working with the Alliance to provide pavement gritting."
