A yellow weather warning for rain has postponed roadworks on the A76 by 24 hours.
The resurfacing works - on the A76 between Borland Road and the Skerrington Roundabout, Cumnock plus a section of the road at Burnton Farm, New Cumnock - were due to commence tonight at 8pm (November 2).
However, the Met Office have issued a yellow be aware warning for rain across much of West Scotland, including all of Ayrshire.
Around 30-50mm of rain is expected across the warning zone but up to 80mm could fall between 12am and 11.59pm on Saturday, November 3.
As a result, trunk road operator Scotland TranServ have taken the decision to delay the start of the works until Saturday at 8pm.
The road will still be closed on Sunday and re-open on Monday, November 5 at 6am with any remaining work completed under convoy later in November.
