East Ayrshire Council
FEARS that sludge was being dumped at a former opencast have been rejected by East Ayrshire Council.
A concerned member of the public contacted the Chronicle after he thought he witnessed “sludge from Irvine Sewerage Treatment Works” being dumped at the former Piperhill opencast site near Sinclairston.
However, East Ayrshire Council have confirmed that remediation work is being carried out at Piperhill by Hargreaves.
