RESIDENTS of Auchinleck can have their say on how they would like to see their community develop.

Initial steps have been taken to produce a local community action plan for their area with people’s views being invited in the first stage of the process.

Survey documents are being delivered to all households with people being urged to complete and return before Sunday, November 4.

Results will be used to help put together a community action plan which will identify the main priorities for development over the next five years.

It would help local groups secure funding and support for the main projects and developments that people would like to see happen.

As well as the household surveys, information shall be gathered from individual residents, voluntary groups, other agencies and organisations that the steering group identify, including the local schools.

Members of various groups and organisations have come together to form a steering group, which will administer the survey. Auchinleck Community Council, ACDI, the indoor bowling club, Talbot and Auchinleck Primary School are all represented. The steering group is supported by EAC Vibrant Communities and the Coalfield’s Regeneration Trust.

After the survey results have been collated and the findings announced, a drop-in event will be held to encourage further consultation.

A spokesman for the steering group said: “Don’t ignore the survey when it arrives. Please complete it and return to your collector, drop it into Auchinleck Library or complete it online.

“The steering group are also looking for some additional volunteers to help with the delivery of the survey and/or also to take part in the short term steering group during the development of the action plan.

“If you would like to offer your support please call 01290 428482 or call into Auchinleck Library.
