A woman escaped uninjured after her van plunged into a river near Dalmellington on Sunday night.

Her vehicle left the A713 just outside the town, trapping her in the river at around 8.20pm before firefighters arrived to free her.

Following the incident she was checked over by paramedics at the scene.

Alan Coughtrie, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s East Ayrshire group manager, said: “Firefighters from Dalmellington attended a road traffic collision involving one private van which left the A713 outside Dalmellington on October 7 at 8.26pm and landed in the river.

“Firefighters freed the adult female from within the vehicle and after being checked by the Scottish Ambulance Service was found to have no injuries.”
