THE miners' strike review event at Cumnock Town Hall tomorrow has been postponed due to Storm Callum.
A yellow be aware warning has been issued by the Met Office for high winds on Friday, October 12, forcing organisers to take action.
A new date will be confirmed and publicised as soon as possible inviting members of the public to share their experiences of policing during the strikes of the 1980s.
John Scott QC, who leads the independent review, said: “If you were a miner, part of a mining community, a police officer or in some other way affected by, or involved in, the strike, I am really interested to hear about your experiences. If you can, please join us at one of these events, or respond to our call for evidence.
“However, for this event, safety comes first and we have taken the decision to postpone the event due to expected adverse weather conditions in the area.”
