Following a series of articles in the Chronicle in which she recalled the life of her MP great-grandfather, Esther Clark staged an exhibition.
It took place in the heart of the mining community where Sanny Sloan fought for the welfare rights of those at the coalface and their families.
Among those who helped organise the event, in New Cumnock Town Hall, was Carol Mochan of the Cumnock and Doon Valley Labour Party.
She said: “The exhibition has been very successful and a lot of people have mentioned the articles in the Chronicle.
“Even in my local shop, a neighbour spoke about them which shows that people love a bit of local history.
“It is a story of success as he was a man who, against the odds, kept fighting for the working classes.”
