PHASE one of a major flood protection scheme at New Cumnock is nearing completion.
Work at the Leggate forms a key part of the £4.7m scheme for the area and involved the diversion of a major high-pressure water main by contractor Innovative Utilities (UK) Ltd.
Barhale Construction PLC have been onsite since April for what East Ayrshire Council have called ‘extensive’ work.
Councillor Douglas Reid, leader of EAC said: “The flood prevention works are now in place and protecting properties in the immediate vicinity of the Connel Burn from future flooding.”
