AROUND 100 members of NHS Ayrshire & Arran staff and their families braved the elements for The Forest Fit Challenge.

It followed the woodland trails at University Hospital Ayr and Ailsa Hospital with families taking part in a 5k or 2k course. The event was part of the board’s WOW (Work On Wellness) campaign to help encourage as many staff as possible to increase their levels of activity.

Staff can take advantage of subsidised staff exercise classes and an increased variety of classes including things like yoga and Qi Gong classes. There will be free classes throughout the campaign and many more family events – the next one involving dogs.

Together with the Active Travel Hub in Kilmarnock, an NHS Big Dog Walk for staff takes place on Saturday, September 29, at 10.30am in Dean Park, Kilmarnock.

Meet in the main car park by 10.15am for registration.
