SENIOR bosses at the Royal Bank of Scotland are being urged to keep their promise to hand the empty Cumnock branch back to the community.

Fresh calls have been made for the bank to keep to their word after it emerged that the premises failed to attract a single bid at auction.

The building in Glaisnock Street has been vacant since October 2017 and as it approaches a full year lying empty, a number of community groups have expressed an interest.

A statement was issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland in February this year which said: “Branch buildings: Where we own the building and where there is no demand for a building, we will work with development trusts and local communities to transfer a building to a community for free - if there is a viable and deliverable three-year business case.”
