A volunteer at an Auchinleck care home has been recognised for her dedication.
Megan Johnston has earned her 50 hour Saltire Award after volunteering every week at Berryknow Care Home in Auchinleck for over two years.
Last week, therapy dogs Zeus and Bella joined Megan and Annie Brown from the Volunteer Centre East Ayrshire to celebrate her achievements.
Agnes McMillan, senior carer at Berryknow, said: “We are so pleased Megan has chosen to continue to visit us and she lights up the room on a Wednesday night spending her time chatting, playing games with the residents and and generally making sure everyone is having a good time.”
Kelly Breckney – who manages the Animal Assisted Therapy Service – added: “Megan is the first volunteer with the service to receive the 50 hour Saltire Award and has only missed one week when she was away on holiday and the residents at Berryknow Care Home all look forward to seeing her.”
The Volunteer Centre East Ayrshire is now in its seventh year of participating in this Scottish Government initiative.
