IF you thought the weekend downpour would end worries about water shortages caused by the recent hot weather, you will be disappointed.

Parts of the River Ayr and other waterways have reached some of their lowest ever water levels - prompting a warning of ‘significant scarcity’.

And the national environment watchdog has now warned that the problem isn’t going to solved by a couple of rainy days.
