A RAID on premises in Muirkirk led to the discovery of drugs with an estimated street value of more than £100,000.

The operation was carried out by a task force comprising East Ayrshire’s pro-active crime team and local community officers from Muirkirk.

They swooped on the property on Carruthers Park at 4pm on Tuesday, May 1 armed with a search warrant and recovered a quantity of alleged class B drugs.

East Ayrshire Area Commander Chief Inspector John Cairns said: “Specialist officers continue to assist the local community policing teams to target issues highlighted as a concern by local residents.

“Local residents have highlighted ‘drug dealing and drug use’ as a priority - we are committed to keeping people safe and would encourage anyone with information on those involved in crime to contact us or to pass what they know to the independent charity Crimestoppers where anonymity is guaranteed”.

Local police units can be contacted by calling the national non-emergency number 101 — always dial 999 in an emergency — while Crimestoppers can be contacted at 0800 555 111.
