A GROUP of churches have come together to celebrate the Year of Young People.

Known as the C6, representatives from churches in Dalmellington, Drongan, Ochiltree, Patna, Stair and Coylton have put their heads together to plan two events.

The first was a Celebration Saturday last weekend for primary school children and the second – on August 25 – will be aimed at teenagers.

Celebration Saturday took place at Coylton Parish Church on April 21 and Rev Douglas Moore explained what was going on.

He said: “John Urquhart, the organist from Stair and Ochiltree, agreed to organise the activities around the theme of the ‘Road to Emmaus’. It included a drama, story, trust games, follow the leader, feet painting and party food.

“Each church brought things like food, party-style table wear, helium balloons and Anne Howat, session clerk at Coylton Parish Church, baked a lovely cake.

“Volunteers from each church helped at the event and a great time was had by all.”
