MEMBERS of Cumnock Rotary Club got together to make the quarterly draw for the group’s Community Support Grant.

Winners of the £200 grant were the Netherthird Sewing Group who are going to put the funds to purchasing an overlocker and other ancillaries.

Netherthird Sewing Group started in October for the purpose of providing social contact, hobby and job prospects if wanted.

Meetings are help in Netherthird Community Centre on a Monday night between 6pm to 8pm, paying £2 per person towards hall let and tea. It is open to people of all ages and has a current membership of eight.

A spokeswoman for the club said: “We are learning to do alterations and make new items using recycled materials which were donated by local firm, Curtainwise .

“The money we have been granted by the Rotary Club of Cumnock will be used to purchase an overlocker machine, plus help the group save for a new sewing machine.”

Any organisation which was unsuccessful will have their application carried forward to the next draw in June. New applications are invited by emailing the Secretary, Dave Perriman at dataprint001@gmail.com.
