PUPILS from Doon Academy’s art and design department held their annual display in Dalmellington Community Centre.

It has been a busy 12 months since last year’s exhibition with a lot happening, including a sensational school fashion show in June.

S2 worked with local landscape artist Peter Tudhope while there were visits to the Contemporary Jewellery exhibition and an outdoor learning experience in Edinburgh.

Family, friends and visitors enjoyed last week’s event with everyone agreeing that Doon Academy has artistic talent in abundance.

Senior pupils who proudly had their work on show were — Alena Barr, Kirsty Leat, Chloe Meredith, Jessica McWilliam, Skye Blaney, Hannah Roberts, Lindsay Paton, Jennifer Arthur, Kerri Robertson, Morgan McCrone, Sheryl Whiteside, Brooke Paulin and Sophie Paulin.

Photography — Samantha Torbet, Tommy Smith, Ashleigh McKinstry, Kaitlin Scally, Katie Stirling and Katie McNae.

Junior Leadership Academy — Zoe Richardson, Megan Guiney, Kelsie Allison, Jade Collins, Skye Logan, Rebecca Meredith and Fern Collins.

There was also a range of arts and crafts on sale at the exhibition, all made by the pupils.

Many people bought early Christmas gifts while several lucky visitors left with a raffle prize.

A spokeswoman for the art and design team said: “I would like to thank the following people — Sharon Rowan and her colleagues, our volunteers and helpers and everyone who donated raffle prizes.

“Also our pupils who helped at the exhibition, Mr Orr, Miss Fletcher, Mr Craig and head teacher Mr Reilly.

“Everyone worked hard to produce work of an exceptional quality.

“We have a very talented group of pupils and their work looks fantastic, without them there would have been no exhibition.”
