MEMBERS of the community are invited to a public event in New Cumnock updating them on the Ashmark Hill windfarm development.

As well as the latest outline plans, turbine locations and environmental studies, computer-generated images will depict how the proposed site may look.

This will show initial layout designs, outline access and transport plans for the windfarm.

And staff from developers innogy will be on hand at the event.

It takes place at New Cumnock Town Hall on Wednesday, June 21, between 2pm and 7pm — everyone is welcome to attend.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to discuss the proposed shared ownership project with innogy staff and with New Cumnock Community Council representatives, as well as to view computer-generated images as to how the development could look.

The Ashmark Hill Community Windfarm proposal is for a maximum of seven turbines up to 135m high with an installed capacity of around 21 megawatts (MW).

A planning application will be submitted to East Ayrshire Council.

Project manager Rowan Brentley said: “We want to ensure that information on our proposals for Ashmark Hill Community Windfarm are available to the local community and that there is an opportunity for everybody to ask us questions and to provide us with comments and feedback.

“The exhibition will include visualisations of the potential appearance of the wind farm as well as information on the potential economic benefits to the community.”
