GREENMILL Primary was put on lockdown after a suspicious package was found.
Parents at the Cumnock school received a text at 8.30am this morning, Monday, advising the school was closed due to a "police incident".
The message said: "Teachers and pupils will not be given access to the property at this time.
"Further updates will be posted on the East Ayrshire Council website when received."
However, the school had reopened shortly after 9am when it was discovered that the suspicious package was part of a school project.
It is believed a janitor found the package after opening up the school.
