NEW Cumnock Scouts and Explorer Scouts visited the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat station in Girvan to find out about how they work.
The scouts were given a tour of the station before they were taken on a trip out to sea by the crew where they were shown a rescue demonstration.
One crew member was thrown into the water before being recovered by the others.
Iain Burgoyne, scout leader, said: “The scouts had a marvellous time. On the trip to sea, our members were given the controls of the craft and were allowed to go around wherever they wished and at whatever speed they chose. An excellent and interesting day was had by all.”
