SANQUHAR is set to have its council services cut as Dumfries and Galloway Council combine three local facilities

The council are bringing together the Customer Service Centre, Library and Registration office in Sanquhar.

D&G Council claim that they require to complete some capital works to refurbish the existing Customer Service Centre and allow it to become fit for purpose.

Sanquhar Customer Service Centre at 100 High Street will be closed from Tuesday May 3 until Sunday June 19. A new integrated facility will re-open on Monday June 20 at 10am.

In the meantime, from Tuesday May 3 the Customer Service Centre will temporarily move into the Library. Registration appointment will continue as normal.

Both the existing Customer Service Centre and Library will be closed from Monday June 13 until Sunday June 19 to allow the Library to be moved into 100 High Street.

During this time the mobile library will be present in Sanquhar on Monday June 13 from 10am until 3.30pm, the location has still to be confirmed.

Sanquhar Customer Service Centre, Registration and Library will continue to be open as follows; Monday 10am until 1pm, Wednesday 10am until 4pm, Thursday 10am until 1pm and Friday 2pm until 7pm.

Chair of Community and Customer Services Committee, Councillor Tom McAughtrie, said: "We will be creating a facility at the existing Customer Service Centre premises which will be fit for purpose and will have access to a wide range of information and services under one roof.

"It is hoped to have the new facilities open in June, in the meantime it is great to see that a temporary provision has been put in place to ensure that the local community continue to receive a library, customer service and registration service.”
