A CUMNOCK lass has scaled one of the worlds highest peaks all in the name of charity.
Susan Bennett, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for MND Scotland.
Susan’s mother suffered from th disease and there is a growing number of people locally who are fighting this terminal disease.
Susan has raised over £9000 for MND Scotland so far and along with The rest of team Kilimanjaro were invited to meet HRH Princess Royal last week.
Susan was part of a team who finally reached the summit of Africa’s highest mountain this week with Team Kilimanjaro raising a staggering £205,000 so far for MND Scotland. Cumnock has fully supported this charity with Gillilands Gifts raising over £3000 from gift wrapping and other activities too.
It’s a terminal condition with no cure and affects every patient differently. The disease was relatively unknown to many until the ice bucket challenge last year and a few high profile sports stars in particular were sadly diagnosed.
