DUNASKIN Doon Band invited a special guest to join them for a concert in Cumnock Academy.
Not only is Iain Culross, principal cornet with Grimethorpe Colliery Band, a talented musician, his group has a worldwide reputation and will be touring Australia this year.
They also added to their fame by playing the soundtrack to a popular 90s movie, Brassed Off, which was based on pit closures at their home town in Yorkshire.
A shared love of music was enough for Mr Culross, who is from Dundee originally, to come to Cumnock and play at Dunaskin’s summer concert.
His appearance was appreciated by the sizeable audience and the organisers enjoyed good feedback, and said it was a nice way to start of their summer programme.
