ROD Stewart and Neil Diamond appeared at a sold out show in Cumnock Bowling Club — almost.

The lookalikes’ performances were part of a tribute show, called Daytime Friends and Night-time Legends, which was held in aid of Hillside School in the town.

It was organised by Kaye Donoghue whose daughter Millie, aged seven, attends the school and staged by Double AA Live Entertainment, who gave their services for free on the evening.

More than £1,200 was raised at the event, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended, with the money being used to invest in much-needed up to date sensory equipment at the school.

As well as Kenny Rogers, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, and Buddy Holly, two local entertainers George Alexander and Michael Withers took to the stage for free to round off a great evening.

Kaye said: “I would like to thank Alex Cairney and Alex Stewart of Double AA, as well as the two guest singers, and the local businesses, family and friends who donated to the raffle, which had more than 40 prizes.

“Among those who donated were Alasdair Fraser Photography, 0290, Kerr & Smith, Off the top, and The Flower Box, while Celtic FC donated SPL tickets which were auctioned for £70 and Kilmarnock FC donated a signed strip which was also auctioned and raised £40.

“Over the last two months everyone had a chance to name a rather huge teddy whose name was picked on the night as Honey, and raised £163 — overall we raised a fantastic total of £1206, which will be presented to the school in the new term.
