The National Trust for Scotland's Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway is set for a busy few months as Easter approaches.

Caroline Glenn, Property Manager said: "We've got lots of events for all the family throughout April. Workshops for Weans and Rambling Rosie's Saturday Stories will entertain the children while a talk from renowned speaker Professor David Purdie about the new edition of the Burns encyclopaedia should keep the grown ups occupied."

Workshops for Weans - 2, 4, 9 & 11 April - 10.00 - 12.00 Let's have fun and get crafty at our children's holiday workshops. Suitable for children aged 5 and above. These are two- hour workshops which run from 10.00-12.00. On the 2nd and 9th, have a go at making something in our 'Clay Time for Kids' clay modelling sessions while the 4th and 11th feature our acting and filmmaking workshop - 'Burns, Camera, Action...!' Rambling Rosie's Saturday Stories - 6 April - 13.00-14.00 Storyteller Rosie Mapplebeck will lead you on a magical trip around Robert Burns' Alloway.

Rosie Mapplebeck said: "Storytelling is the oldest form of human performance and is a sharing of information in an entertaining way. It works particularly well in the small groups of these tours. There is no reading involved. My stories are all inside my head. I know them as friends.

"On my Saturday story walks, I take visitors to RBBM outdoors around the wider historic site and at regular intervals I stop to tell them tales, the like of which Robert Burns would himself have heard as a child and which so inspired his own writing. I try and match the right stories to place and people present, whatever their age or interest or nationality, so it ends up being a very personalised tour. I paint a picture with words, with both the factual and the imaginative story so that folk have an emotionally coloured experience to add to their visit to the Museum. Visitors are welcome to join for all or part of my tour, as suits their own day out."

The Burns Encyclopaedia: A New Edition - 7 April - 14.00-15.00 Meet Professor David Purdie, Hon. Fellow Member of Edinburgh University as he discusses the development of the new edition of this celebrated work.

For further information on any of these events please call 0844 493 2601 or email burns@nts.org.uk.

Along with the Auld Kirk and Brig o' Doon, the cottage where Burns was born has been combined with the Burns Monument and the new award-winning museum building to form the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. Generously supported by the Scottish Government and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the museum commemorates the life and works of Robert Burns.

Since opening to the public in December 2010, the museum has welcomed more than 800,000 visitors and has won a series of accolades including being selected as a finalist for the prestigious Art Fund prize, securing a five star rating from VisitScotland and being named as Horace Broon's 'new favourite place in Scotland'.
