THOMAS (TAM) HAZEL

HAZEL Thomas (Tam) Tam, formerly of Glenbuck, peacefully passed away at Ayr Hospital, on Tuesday 20th June 2023, aged 95 years. Father to Robert and Alex, father in law to Sandra, grandfather to Rory, Natalie and Ryan and a friend to many. Funeral Service will be held at Masonhill Crematorium on Friday 30th June 2023 at 3.30pm, to which family and friends are respectfully invited. A special thank you is extended to all in the Lime Zone at Ayr Hospital, for their care and professionalism.

Tam Hazel was the last man who could remember Grasshill Pit working. He could also remember the glory days of the Cherrypickers. He described himself as a Hunter-Gatherer in the hills and waters around Glenbuck, and he passed his skills on to us in the next Generation. We admired his irreverent panache. Another unique character has passed from our ken.
