GRAINGE - Ian Ian passed away quietly at home in London, Ontario on 17th December 2019. He leaves his wife Louise and Bridie, his canine companion. Ian was predeceased by his parents Donald and Mary, his brother Don and his younger sister Nanette, making him the last of his generation of family. He also leaves the families of Don and Nanette. Ian was born and raised in Scotland, where he worked in aviation publications. In 1969, Ian travelled to Canada where he, almost immediately after arrival, found the Canadian Shield, a discovery that became a life changing experience for Ian and went on to steer his direction in life. Ian was a creative director, designer and illustrator and his career spanned close to 50 years. During many of these years Ian was self employed and viewed his office as his home. He later took to writing and fine art. Ian was a preservationist who revered the natural beauty of the world. Some of Ian's fondest times were those he spent at Georgian Bay watching the natural world unfold and experiencing the solitude of early morning and evening walks along the shore. Cremation has taken place. At Ian's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre or the National Trust for Scotland (specifically dedicated to funding their Wild Scotland Program) would be appreciated. Please consider planting a tree in Ian's memory.
