ALL generations are invited to a Family Day taking place in conjunction with a major exhibition in Cumnock.
When We Are Young, at the Baird Institute, has captured the imagination of people of all ages with the range of items on display which includes toys, games, amusements, posters, records and lots of other fun things from years gone by.
History groups, primary school classes, and individual visitors have been captivated by the exhibits which feature everything from Edwardian Dolls to Thundercats, as there are no hard fast rules on what qualifies as a treasured toy.
As part of Family Day, the entire community is invited to contribute to the exhibition, learn about and play in the past, while having lots of fun — search your loft, garage or garden shed for any toys of interest and bring them along, and they may even end up in the exhibition.
The exhibition also has community-based displays, where people tell the story of how they used to play. Children of all ages will enjoy this fun, interactive exhibition at the Family Day, which takes place on Saturday, March 14, between 10am and 3pm, entry is free.
For more information call the Baird Institute on 01290 427084. When We Are Young exhibition runs until Saturday, May 16, and has been supported by Museums Galleries Scotland.
