East Ayrshire Leisure are delighted to take part in Book Week Scotland celebrations again this year. Book Week Scotland is a week long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November, organised by the Scottish Book trust. This year the Dick Institute will host events by bestselling authors Anne Donovan and Kirsty Logan on Wednesday 26th November and Ayrshire author Maureen Borland on Thursday 27th November.

Book Week Scotland 2014 will take place from Monday 24 – Sunday 30 November 2014 with people of all ages come together in libraries, schools and communities to share and enjoy books and reading. They will be joined in this celebration by Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators to bring their books to life.

Join bestselling authors Anne Donovan and Kirsty Logan as they talk about their writing for the 21 Revolutions project and what inspired them. Hear readings from their work and the sources behind the stories found amongst the shelves and in the archive boxes of Glasgow Women’s Library. Tickets are £4, book now and be amongst the first to see this beautiful new book and meet some of the artists and writers involved.

Maureen Borland, author and researcher has lived in Ayrshire for most of her life. The books she writes are rooted in her love of Scotland, her interest in Scottish history and Scots families. At this event, Maureen will discuss her latest publication, The Allan Family: Scottish/Canadian Shipowners - a history of the Allan family of Scotland and Canada, founders of the great Allan Steamship Line. This event is free but ticketed.
