Following her tremendous workshop and concert in November 2013, Mairi Campbell, award-winning Scottish singer and musician, makes a welcome return to A’ the Airts in October 2014.

The date is Saturday October 25, and she will hold an afternoon workshop from 2 pm to 5 pm where she explores and develops well-known Scottish songs, blending voices and instruments. Singers of all abilities are welcome to come along, but instrumentalists should have some basic experience on instruments such as the fiddle, autoharp, guitar or bodhran. Mairi is a skilled teacher and facilitator, and everyone – from the beginner to the experienced - will learn something from the afternoon.

The evening concert starts at 7.30 pm, with the doors opening at 7 pm. There is a licensed bar from 7 pm and during the interval. The workshop costs £15, and tickets for the evening concert are £9. If you attend both, tickets are £20.

Mairi has worked all over the world, and has won many awards. She has been 'Scottish Singer of the Year’, 'Scottish Trad Music Awards Tutor of the Year’, and in April 2013 supported Joan Armatrading at her Usher Hall gig in Edinburgh. Her version of 'Auld Lang Syne’ featured in the 2008 motion picture 'Sex and the City’, thanks to actress Sarah Jessica Parker. Her latest album, PULSE, was released in September 2014, and is a collaboration with sound engineer David Gray of Sound Café Studios.

Mairi’s appearance is another coup for A’ the Airts, and the day is sure to be popular and well-attended. Early booking is therefore advised. You can reserve tickets by phoning 01659 50514, emailing contact@all-the-airts.com or calling in at A’ the Airts at 8-12 High Street, Sanquhar.
