A’ the Airts, Upper Nithsdale’s own arts centre, is proud to host legendary singer/songwriter Shelagh McDonald and internationally-renowned performer Nigel H. Seymour for an evening of music and song on Sunday April 27 at 7.45 pm.

Melding reflective folk and rock music, this is an evening that no one can afford to miss.

Shelagh, left, is a veteran of the 1960s folk revival, and was among the first new British songwriters in the early 70s.

In March last year, A’ the Airts hosted her first public performance for over 40 years after her mysterious disappearance in 1971. Since then she has successfully emerged onto the national folk scene once more, and is wowing audiences with a voice that is as crystal-clear and enchanting as ever.

Nigel H. Seymour, right, comes from Iona, and he spent his formative years moving between the island and “an old grey Lancashire town” (Rochdale). In the famous Cargo Studios in Rochdale he recorded the first songs for his album called “Sweet Lady”. His voice is rich and compelling, and his ballads have delighted audiences in the UK and the USA.

There is a licensed bar from 7.00 pm and during the interval. Evening meals will be available in the Café @ A’ the Airts from 6.00 pm. Booking is essential.
