To celebrate Burn’s Birthday, East Ayrshire Leisure is delighted to welcome Donald Kay from Walk About Ayr (rated 1st in Ayrshire by Tripadvisor) to Burns House Museum in Mauchline.

On Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd January between 1pm and 4pm, Kay, in character as Robert Burns, will welcome visitors to the museum and will lead them on a guided tour of the venue and the graveyard. So why not drop in to the museum and enjoy this one-off FREE event - (large groups please contact us in advance on 01563 554358).

Hear first-hand about the many characters who populated the town and the works of Burns – his great love, Jean Armour as well as Holy Willie, Poosie Nancy and Gavin Hamilton who are buried in the graveyard. Take in the atmosphere of the cobbled back streets of Mauchline and visit the actual room where, between 1784 and 1788, years considered to be the most important and formative of his life, Burns lived with his wife Jean Armour.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to view the life size model of Burns Head that was reconstructed for the STV Documentary “In search of Robert Burns”.  The head (reconstructed using state-of-the-art forensic technology, by Professor Caroline Wilkinson and her team at The University of Dundee) is on special loan and will be on display for this week only.

Burns House is open Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.
