Dumfriesshire’s Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate is celebrating after being announced as finalists of this year’s highly esteemed VisitScotland Scottish Thistle Awards.

The five star visitor attraction near Sanquhar has been shortlisted for the first time for a prestigious VisitScotland Scottish Thistle Award and is one of three finalists in the Heritage Experience category, awarded to businesses which have excelled in providing Scotland’s visitors with the opportunity to enjoy and fully appreciate aspects of Scotland’s vast range of rich heritage experiences.

Promoting quality service and products which reflect all that is great in Scotland’s world-reputed and foremost industry, to win a Thistle Award is the ultimate accolade for excellence in the tourism industry.

Commenting on reaching the finals, Mark Coombs, Estate Manager at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate said: "We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in the Heritage Experience category; it is a wonderful endorsement for the product we have here at Drumlanrig. The team works extremely hard to exceed customer expectations and to ensure that the heritage experience is conveyed in an interesting and engaging manner. To be acknowledged as one of the best heritage experiences in Scotland demonstrates that our efforts have not gone unnoticed”

He continues, “We have recently made investments in our products and services here at Drumlanrig in order to enhance the visitor experience, offering visitors more and giving them even better value for money. This nomination is a testament to the hard work of all those involved in the development and upkeep at Drumlanrig Castle, who help both locals and visitors get the most out of this fantastic part of Scotland.”

Drumlanrig Castle is the Dumfriesshire home of the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry.
