MISS Scotland Ellie McKeating has a special date with footballer turned television pundit Robbie Savage later this month.

Ellie and Robbie will make the draw for Scotland’s richest flat race the £160,000 William Hill Ayr Gold Cup at Ayr Racecourse.

The draw takes place on Referendum Day September 18, which is also the opening day of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival, and the race itself is run on Saturday September 20 in front of packed stands.

There are 27 horses in the race and once Ellie or Robbie draws their name out of a drum their trainer or representative will then decide which stall they will run from.

David Brown, Managing Director of Ayr Racecourse said : “It is a huge boost that we have Ellie joining Robbie at this year’s draw. We were delighted to welcome Ellie to the Scottish Sun Raceday in June and I’m glad she is returning for the Gold Cup draw.

“Robbie was here for two days at last year’s Festival and proved popular with the crowds.” The Gold Cup draw is screened lived on dedicated horse racing channel Racing UK and is an integral part of the Festival which also includes Ladies Day on the Friday which will see one lucky lady win a fabulous Vauxhall Adam Glam 1.4 courtesy of Kerr & Smith.

More than 20,000 people from all over the UK and Ireland will descend on the course for the Festival where total prizemoney tops £600,000. Channel 4 screens four races live from the track on the Saturday.
