A GENERATION game will be played out at Kames Motorsport Complex, Muirkirk this weekend.

The sport’s experienced drivers will attempt to stave off a challenge from a 16 year old with only three months driving experience of any kind. John Munro, still several months short of applying for a provisional road licence, scored an outright victory on only his second competition driving an OMS 1,000cc racing car which he shares with his dad Roy.

The youngster, from Tain in Easter Ross, hopes to add to his string of recent successes at Muirkirk but he faces stiff opposition from his dad and from the experienced John Mackenzie from Laurencekirk who is rapidly getting acclimatised with his recently acquired 1600cc OMS.

The biggest engined car will be a 3.8 litre Nissan GT-R and it will be in the hands of the talented Ross Napier of Montrose who looks like winning the Guyson Scottish Hillclimb Championship in his Gould V8 racing car.

Practice starts at 10 am each day with competition runs around 1.30 pm.

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday July 26 & 27.

Last Saturday (July 19) a contingent of competitors in the Mitsubishi Lancer National Sprint Championship made their annual pilgrimage to Kames for a thrilling meeting held in atrocious weather conditions. Most drivers travelled up from England and despite some damaged cars, most went home happy with their day’s sport.
