A STRONG entry has been attracted by East Ayrshire Car Club for this Sunday’s April Rally at Kames, with competitors travelling to Muirkirk from as far away as Inverness, Aberdeen and Morecambe.

As well as a number of experienced competitors there is a class for Junior drivers, those 14-17 year olds whose demanding coaching qualifies them to participate in competitions on private roads such as Kames. Over the past two seasons these youngsters have put in performances which have impressed the experts with the leading Junior often finishing in the top half of the overall results table.

Their cars are restricted to 1000cc so the outright winner is likely to emerge from the more powerful engine cars. In this category are two Scottish drivers who should be among the frontrunners. Graham Bruce from Sundrum has entered his two litre Mitsubishi EVO and another two litre car, a Subaru Impreza, will have its first competitive outing in the hands of Nigel Feeney from Troon.

The action begins around 10 am and continues till mid-afternoon. A good crowd is anticipated as enthusiasts have been attracted from all over the West of Scotland for previous rallies at Kames.
