Academy Player called up to Scotland U17 training squad
Ayr United Football Academy U19 and reserve player, Mark Shankland, has been invited to a three day training camp with Scotland U17 squad, to be held in Falkirk on February 13 and 14.
The official call up was announced to Mark on Tuesday and sees him join the squad to try to impress coach Ricky Sbragia and earn his place in the team which will take part in the forthcoming UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Scotland will host Denmark, Iceland and Lithuania on March 20, 22 and 25 with the group winner earning a place in the finals which take place in May.
Mark is one of only five players in the 24 player squad, to be selected from SFL clubs, the others coming from the Hamilton and Falkirk youth development programmes.
Mark said: "I am very much looking forward to playing in the squad and it is a privilege to have the chance to represent Ayr United and to try and win my place in the European Championship squad"
