MIDWEEK horse racing returns to Ayr next week with a double header - the Wallaces Express Raceday on Wednesday August 25 and Publicans Raceday the following day.

Seven races are scheduled each day with the action starting at 2.10 pm both afternoons and big fields are expected in most of the contests.

The E.B.F./Coca Cola Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs sets the ball rolling on the opening day and this race carries a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus in addition to the £4300 first prize.

Feature race on Wednesday is the Whyte & Mackay Handicap Stakes over one mile two furlongs which should attract a near maximum field of 14 runners including horses from the in form Jim Goldie and Linda Perratt yards as well as other top northern yards.

The day's racing ends with another one mile two furlong contest - the Kopparberg Handicap due off at 5.10 pm.

Thursday's action centres around the Patrick Drumgoole of Penkill 80th Birthday Handicap over seven furlongs at 3.10 pm with almost £5000 going to the winner.

The opening two races - the Victorchandler.com Maiden Auction over six furlongs and the Senate Electrical Nursery Handicap again over the straight six furlongs are both for two year olds and expect to see some interesting young horses in action here.

Up and coming jockeys feature in the finale on Thursday - the Bet Live At victorchandler.com Apprentice Handicap over a mile.

Gates open both days at 12.10 pm and for further information go online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk or call 01292-264179.
