LION'S ROAR: Lionheart is in action this weekend.

By Darren Wood

CUMNOCK wrestling star Lionheart is set to go head to head with one of America's finest talents in what promises to be the most hotly contested British wrestling show of 2010.

Fearless Lionheart will square off against "The Best in the World" Davey Richards in the main event of Pro Wrestling 101's Unstoppable show this weekend.

The match, billed as "Pro Wrestling Defined", will be a two out of three falls bout and is an eagerly awaited rematch following the duo's breathtaking first encounter last November.

The Cumnock grappler admits he endured a few sleepless nights in the build up to the first bout, a contest he was unlucky not to win.

Lionheart, 27, said: "I had never worried so much about a match in my life.

"I slept for about 40 minutes the night before. All I could think was how the hell am I going to stand toe to toe with this guy.

"Richards isn't called the best in the world for no reason. He can go into the ring with absolutely anyone and out wrestle them. I've been a fan of Richards for some time as he is world class and to work with someone you respect and admire in that way is such an honour."

After the fight Lionheart came in for special praise from American star Richards, who hails from St Louis.

But Ayrshire's finest knows he has what it takes to overcome his more experienced opposition this time round.

Lionheart is only the second man to ever hold the major Championship of the three biggest wrestling promotions in Scotland and knows Sunday's rematch in Sheffield is his chance to prove his worth.

He roared: "Last time it was really a do or die situation for me. I was either going to have a career defining match where people would say that I am a main event superstar or I could have crashed and burned.

"This time though the hype is all about us topping the first match, how great it's going to be and that it would headline any wrestling show in the world."
