CLASS ACT: Stewart, right, is pictured with his best qualifier award, along with David Gourlay and Paul Foster.
Local boy has big future
Auchinleck bowler Stewart Anderson returned home "delighted" this week after a fantastic performance at the World Indoor Bowls Championships in Norfolk.
The young Ayrshireman had his best ever run in a ranking tournament, reaching the final of the event in an impressive fashion.
The 24 year-old beat fellow Scot Alex Marshall - a pre-tournament favourite - to reach the Quarter-final stages of the event, thereafter beating John Price - another tournament favourite - and Nick Brett to reach his first, of which he hopes many, ranking finals.
He said: "I'm delighted with my achievement, its great, and I'm not disappointed with the result."
Stewart now hopes the feat can be a regular occurrence, but insists he won't change his approach to the game.
He added: "I play bowls as a hobby because I love the sport and I want to play it. I wont change my approach too much."
His next event will be the Scottish Fours for Auchinleck, but he admits he hasn't had a chance to examine his opponents just yet and doesn't even know when it is scheduled to be played.
After a nine hour drive home from the event, Stewart still can't believe his other achievement: "I was shocked to get the best qualifier award, I didn't even know I was going to get it. It's the icing on the whole experience."
With a move to Wales on the horizon, Stewart insists he has plenty of time to continue to prove himself as a top-class bowler, and looks forward to representing Scotland again at such a level.
