IT was double delight for Talbot on Wednesday night when they defeated a plucky Troon side for the second time in just four days.

A 2-0 win sent Talbot through to the Evening Times League Champions Cup final against Neilston and a crack at a treble.

On a high from sealing their place in the final, the Beechwood boys then got to grips with the Premier Division title when they were presented with the trophy.

Goals from Graham Wilson and David Gormley handed Tommy Sloan’s side the win against newly promoted Troon and the party continued when Bot raised a loft the Stagecoach Super League trophy - to the jubilation of the home support.

Speaking after the trophy presentation, Bot gaffer Sloan said: “The boys had a wee celebration . It’s good to get it in the bag and that also qualifies us for the senior cup next season so we are really looking forward to that, that’s always important to us.

“It’s a shame it was a working night, most of the boys had work the next morning so while they were delighted to get the trophy it was just a quiet wee celebration.” Talbot now play Neilston at Pollok’s Newlandsfield a week on Saturday and on reaching the final Sloan added: “We are pleased to get through. We wanted to get to this final so it was good.

“We could have been a bit more clinical but we won and that’s what matters. We’re just looking forward to the game now."
