A REFEREE error is to blame for Kilwinning Rangers fielding a player who did NOT appear on the team sheet according the Lugar Boswell Thistle.
Lugar protested the team sheet irregularity but that protest has been thrown out by the SJFA the Chronicle understands.
The Bunnets lodged a protest following their 1-1 draw against table topping Kilwinning back on February 14. The Rosebank Park side claim that the Buffs fielded Chris Strain Jr despite not listing him on their team sheet that was submitted to the match official.
Speaking to the Chronicle, club secretary Kennie Young said: "It seems that it was all a referee error so there will be no actions taken against Kilwinning. I was told that the ref had made the mistake of altering the team lines without notifying anybody from the club.
"Our whole protest was based on the fact that the error could have an impact on our season but it looks now like there's nothing we can do about it. We just have to accept the ruling and get on with things."
