TALBOT gaffer Tommy Sloan reckons his side are suffering a dip in confidence after slumping to their second defeat on the spin.

The Bot were put to the sword in the senior Scottish Cup last Saturday and followed that up with a miserable performance in the Ardagh Glass League Cup final against Glenafton on Sunday.

Sloan said: “Without a doubt Glens deserved it. We’ve got absolutely no complaints. Glens won, I don’t like to make excuses. They wanted it that bit more than we did, both at the back and up front. They were physically better than us on the day and deserved their win.

“We’ve now lost our last two games and we need to pick up from those performances. Confidence is down a bit and we need that to change because we have big fortnight of games coming up.” Talbot now have a massive derby clash with Cumnock which could prove to be massive for both sides.

Talbot are looking to get back to winning ways and a win over Nock would get confidence flowing again.

On the other hand, Cumnock picked up their first win of the season away to Shotts on Saturday and will be looking to string results together.

Sloan said: “There’s no easy games in the juniors. Alright, Cumnock haven’t made the best start but they had a good win at the weekend and it’ll be tough going for us. We want to get back to winning ways and we have Cumnock on Saturday and then away to Banks O’Dee in the Scottish Cup so it’s a big two weeks for us and we want to progress in each cup, but it’s easier said than done. We’ve got Cumnock first and that’s all we are looking at just now. A win is a win and I’d take a 1-0 any day of the week.” Saturday’s tie takes place at Beechwood Park with a 2pm kick off.
