GLENS gaffer Tommy Bryce has admitted he was gutted to slip to yet another defeat away to Beith last Saturday and has insisted his side need to be more clinical to start notching up points.

The defeat was Glens third of the campaign from the opening four game.

Despite a positive start to the season, with a 2-1 away win over Clydebank, the Glens have gone on to lose three in a row, leaving the Loch Park boss stumped.

Speaking to the Chronicle Bryce said: “We were really disappointed to lose the game on Saturday. I would say we dominated large spells of it and we created plenty of chance so it was particularly disappointing.

“It’s just poor finishing. We’ve scored goals this season and we know there are goals in the team but we have struggled to put the ball in when it matters.” Despite hitman Alain Kinney’s fine start to the season, Bryce says he is keen to see his star man helped by his team mates chipping in with more goals.

Kinney was partnered on Saturday by Aaron Connolly, who returned from injury, and Bryce will be hoping that his side can stick away more opportunities in the coming matches.

Bryce added: “We had very difficult fixtures to start the season. Of the first four games, three of them have been away from home, not that that is an excuse but it’s been tough going.

“All of the games - barring the Hurlford game - have been really close and settled by the odd goal so that’s frustrating. I wouldn’t say we have been defending particularly badly, we just need our midfield to chip in with a few more goals and we are confident that we will get back to winning ways.” Bryce has been pleased by the form of summer signing Adam Strachan as well as the returning Chris Meikle, saying: “Adam has done well since he came in and played well again at the weekend and Chris Meikle has been excellent for us since he got back in the side.” Bryce will be hoping his side can bag three points when they host Shotts Bon Accord today with a 2pm kick off time.
