BRIAN McLuckie is confident Cumnock’s transfer business will be 'done and dusted’ by the weekend.

The Townhead boss hopes to tie up three new players by Saturday after last week completing the signing of Stranraer midfielder Kieran Maxwell.

McLuckie jetted off on a family holiday on Monday but is confident his men will be in place when he returns from his week-long break in Spain.

He said: “Firstly it was great to get Kieran in from Stranraer as he’s a fantastic prospect and we rate him highly. He’s only 19 but is already a very good player and we feel he will do very well here.

“With the signing of Kieran Woods, also from Stranraer, then we couldn’t be happier getting those two in from the seniors.

“I want more and I’m confident that by the weekend we’ll have three more in place and that will be us done and dusted.

“I’ve held talks with the lads and it should be signed and sealed by Saturday. Then we can focus, as a squad, on the forthcoming Ardagh Glass competition. We have a tough section including the league winners, West of Scotland champions and Scottish Cup finalists so we will need to hit the ground running.” The signs are good for Nock after they collected silverware when they won the Buffs tournament at the weekend.

Victories over a youthful Ayr United side and a scholarship select - with new signings Paul Quinn and Maxwell on target - left McLuckie a happy man ahead of his holiday.

He added: “It’s always nice to win a trophy and I just hope it’s the first of many. We beat Ayr United 3-1 with Kieran scoring alonside two trialists.

“And then we beat the select boys 4-3 with Paul, Kieran and Chris McKnight also on the scoresheet.

“They were good games for us and we stepped things up a bit. We’ll be ready for the new season and just looking forward to the competitive games now.”
