TALBOT forward Mick McCann has decided to leave the Beechwood Park club.

McCann joined Bot in 2010 but has since fallen down the pecking ordered in Tommy Sloan’s striking options.

With his Beechwood Park exit complete, McCann will likely be heading to Portland Park and newly-promoted Troon.

Speaking to the Chronicle, the 31-year-old hitman said: “I signed a two year deal with Troon yesterday (Sunday June 15). I’ve not really been getting much game time and I just felt that it was time to move on.

“I’ve got a young family and for me I was giving up time going to training and then not getting a game so I really want to make it count and signing for Troon gives me the chance to make it count by playing every Saturday.” He added: “I’m good mates with Tucker and we both agreed it was a good time to move on. There’s no animosity involved. I’ve loved my time at Talbot but that’s football.

“I’ve won everything there is to win at Talbot so it’s a good time to move on and Troon are an up and coming team with a good ground so I’m looking forward to it.” Talbot gaffer Sloan said: “Mick wanted to play more regularly and I can understand that. We spoke about it and to be honest if I was him I’d probably do the same thing.

“I would have offered him a new deal to stay at the club but he made it clear that he really wanted to go somewhere he would get more game time and I can’t really fault him for that so he goes with our best wishes.” Sloan also confirmed that he has extended the stay of midfielder Dwayne Hyslop for another season.

Hyslop has been hampered by injury during his time at Talbot but gaffer Sloan reckons he could be set to feature more regularly next season.

He said: “Dwayne has had a bad time with injuries and he looks like he could finally be over that and I think he will be big player for us next season.” Transfer listed forward Alan McKenzie has attracted interest from recently relegated Pollok. McKenzie has been disappointed at his lack of game time and with the club having received an enquiry from Pollok he looks likely to be on the move this summer.
