LUGAR boss Carlo Walker has ended speculation about his future by signing a one-year deal at the cash-strapped club.

The Rosebank gaffer had hinted he was ready to quit after a frustrating final few months of last season.

Walker had been linked with the Girvan post but put paid to those rumours this week, Speaking to the Chronicle, he said: “There were certainly a few things going on in my thoughts. Things were up in the air. I had seen teams spend thousands on players while I scraped around to get £80 on a loan player.

“I just wanted to re-evaluate my situation. But I didn’t speak to any other club and the whole Girvan thing is a load of nonsense.

“It’s better being in manager’s job than not having a job and I’m determined to do well next season.” Walker has already lost James Cuthbertson, Martin Reynolds and Ally McInness to Whitletts, while John Frame has left for Maybole.

And he received another hammer-blow when his player-assistant Andy Stevenson quit to join Frame at the First Division club.

Walker added: “That’s a sore one for me and I’m really disappointed that Andy has left. He feels it might be the last chance he gets to play in a higher league.

“I’ve held positive talks about replacing him so hopefully I’ll get that sorted soon.”
